Need Help / Advice

Thu Jul 9, 2009, 11:00 AM
Hey everyone,

I need some help and advice. Through one of the companies I work for, I have the ability to get Cinema4D, 3DSMax, Vue, Maya, or pretty much any other CG software. Problem is, I'm not quite sure what I want or where I should start.

I'm thinking of starting with C4D, since I want to try to combine more abstract 3D renders with my design work. After that, I'm thinking Vue so I can create my own photorealistic environments...but I'm not sure if I should use Vue, or just try to get a lot better with Terragen (or Terragen 2). After that, I really have no idea...3DSMax or Maya? Also, what are mental ray and v-ray? Aren't they rendering engines that are included in the above 3D softwares? Any guidance or advice that you all can give would be very helpful.

Lastly, I need a list of like 10-20 really awesome fonts that I should be using in web design. Whether they are the standard fonts with just different settings, or a free or paid font, any suggestions would be really helpful.
